Take me out to the ball game

Last week, some of the ducks and I headed on over to Staten Island to see a minor league baseball game. Beyond our usual desire to bond, we went to support our friends over at the United Way of New York City.  Receiving a portion of ticket sales, United Way offered all-you-can-eat hot dogs and hamburgers to help sweeten the deal (well, for everyone else since I’m a pescatarian).

(L to R) Kat Sciolto, Sonny Mui, Farra Trompeter, Dan Gunderman, Kristen Blair, and Rebecca Hume

As a girl who grew up in New York (ok, Long Island), I’ve always been curious about Staten Island–and the free Ferry ride over was awesome. When we got to the stadium, the game was already started. We grabbed our seats, got some food, and cheered on.  Despite my Mets affiliation, I was happy to root for the Staten Island Yankees (who won it 5-2).  Beyond the Dippin’ Dots, I think the highlight of the game was seeing our name on the big marquis.  We were definitely the proudest group there.

So Congrats to the United Way for putting the fun in fundraising. And for giving us ducks a great night out!
