Farra’s New Year’s Wish for You: More Dancing

My wish for you in 2011 is more dancing. It’s a little known secret that fellow Duck Kat and I break out into unofficial dance parties first thing in the morning–or randomly in the afternoon. There’s nothing like a good booty shaking to get the day started or keep the energy flowing. Usually, the tunes are a trip down memory lane or perhaps a listen to the latest performance from Glee. It always puts a smile on my face.

Busting into dance moves starts feeling awkward as we get older, but I’m telling you, it’ll make you smile. To get over that shyness you may have, I’d like to share some classic steps and some good tunes with you. In case you need to brush up on your skills, check out this video from music educator John Jacobson.

Now for the jams to bust those new moves to. Here’s a special playlist I made just for you. Included on this mix is Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance Glee-style; something from the King of Pop; and a little ditty from Luther Vandross and Busta Rhymes with hope for a new/better day. Oh, and I’ve wrapped it up with a classic from the soul-filled Hall and Oates. When I was a kid, my mom and I used to alter the lyrics, “(Oh oh, here she comes) she`s a TROMP-eater.”

Okay. Did I put a smile on your face yet? Share your favorite song in the comments and if you perfect those double dream hands, I wanna see ’em!
