Communications feeling…not so fresh?

I never thought I’d say it, but the best communication I’ve seen lately was a tampon ad. If you haven’t yet, check out the “Camp Gyno” video that’s this month’s YouTube hit. There’s no blue liquid and definitely no one doing yoga in white pants. Just a tween with a hilarious story about what getting your period is really like.

It’s a refreshing reminder about the power of getting real in your communications. Forget what you think you have to say—or what your audience is used to hearing. Lose the jargon and code words and start laying it out honestly, in a way people can relate to. Because a story that rings true can go a long way to cut through the BS, making your message one that people actually remember.
